Hi everyone! I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in almost a MONTH. I was just super busy with AP exams and now I have my school semester exams but I had a little spare time to do this makeup dupe post!
So this makeup dupe is for a translucent powder. I have the Makeup Forever Microfinish HD Powder and the Revlon PhotoReady Translucent finish. So these are both foundation setters and if you continue reading, I'll do a more in-depth review on both of these and my final verdict to see if the Revlon is a dupe or not!
My Profile -
Combination - T-zone is oily, everywhere else is normal
Hair - Oily, dark brown
Body - dry to normal (drier in the colder seasons)
Skin Tone - beige or a little bit darker than that (i'm an asian on the lighter side ;P
Eyes - Dark brown, size to the smaller side
Acne - Acne prone skin, quite a few acne scars on my cheeks, a little of redness around my nose
Makeup Forever Microfinish HD Powder -
This product is a loose translucent powder that is meant to set your foundation and slightly mattify your face. It is a very fine powder and the packaging of it is very simple, with the Makeup Forever logo on the cap. This product retails for $32 USD and so it is quite a big purchase, especially if you are a student. I like this product because it does help with my oily skin, and gets rid of shininess. It makes my foundation look flawless and just gives it a nice matte finish. However, because of the bulky packaging I can only apply it once in the day and can't reapply it. Especially now that it is summer, it's inconvenient that I can't apply this again during the day. However, it's not an amazing powder but it does what it does. You can find this product in the Makeup Forever store in World Trade Centre.
Revlon PhotoReady Translucent Powder -
So this product is also a translucent powder which says it is supposed to give a "perfected airbrushed skin in any light. Translucent, Shine-free. Soft Luminous finish" Again, I use this product to set my foundation. This is a pressed translucent powder which I really like so that I can bring it around while going about during the day. Unlike the Makeup Forever HD powder this has fine silver sparkles in it which I personally like, it just gives a little more of a glow to your face, and the glitter is NOT obvious and just gives a nice extra oomph. There is a slight smell to it, I can't explain it, but personally I really like it. It is also a very soft translucent powder that helps mattify my face and it comes with a mini applicator so you can use it, though personally I like using my own powder brush. One downside is, I have heard some people do break out after using this product. I had no such problem but just in case for my readers, I just wanted to give you what others thought as well! This product retails at $12 USD and you can find it at Watsons.
All and all, I think the Revlon PhotoReady is a good dupe for the Makeup Forever Microfinish HD powder. It is 1/3 of the price and I think it does essentially the same thing. I do not find the Makeup Forever one to give a drastically better finish and the Revlon one is portable as well which is more convenient.
I hope you all enjoyed this review and comment down below on your thoughts about these two products!
