Makeup Dupe! - Makeup Forever and. Revlon

Hi everyone! I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in almost a MONTH. I was just super busy with AP exams and now I have my school semester exams but I had a little spare time to do this makeup dupe post!

So this makeup dupe is for a translucent powder. I have the Makeup Forever Microfinish HD Powder and the Revlon PhotoReady Translucent finish. So these are both foundation setters and if you continue reading, I'll do a more in-depth review on both of these and my final verdict to see if the Revlon is a dupe or not!

My Profile -
Combination - T-zone is oily, everywhere else is normal
Hair - Oily, dark brown
Body - dry to normal (drier in the colder seasons)
Skin Tone - beige or a little bit darker than that (i'm an asian on the lighter side ;P
Eyes - Dark brown, size to the smaller side
Acne - Acne prone skin, quite a few acne scars on my cheeks, a little of redness around my nose

Makeup Forever Microfinish HD Powder -
This product is a loose translucent powder that is meant to set your foundation and slightly mattify your face. It is a very fine powder and the packaging of it is very simple, with the Makeup Forever logo on the cap. This product retails for $32 USD and so it is quite a big purchase, especially if you are a student. I like this product because it does help with my oily skin, and gets rid of shininess. It makes my foundation look flawless and just gives it a nice matte finish. However, because of the bulky packaging I can only apply it once in the day and can't reapply it. Especially now that it is summer, it's inconvenient that I can't apply this again during the day. However, it's not an amazing powder but it does what it does. You can find this product in the Makeup Forever store in World Trade Centre.

Revlon PhotoReady Translucent Powder -
So this product is also a translucent powder which says it is supposed to give a "perfected airbrushed skin in any light. Translucent, Shine-free. Soft Luminous finish" Again, I use this product to set my foundation. This is a pressed translucent powder which I really like so that I can bring it around while going about during the day. Unlike the Makeup Forever HD powder this has fine silver sparkles in it which I personally like, it just gives a little more of a glow to your face, and the glitter is NOT obvious and just gives a nice extra oomph. There is a slight smell to it, I can't explain it, but personally I really like it. It is also a very soft translucent powder that helps mattify my face and it comes with a mini applicator so you can use it, though personally I like using my own powder brush. One downside is, I have heard some people do break out after using this product. I had no such problem but just in case for my readers, I just wanted to give you what others thought as well! This product retails at $12 USD and you can find it at Watsons.

All and all, I think the Revlon PhotoReady is a good dupe for the Makeup Forever Microfinish HD powder. It is 1/3 of the price and I think it does essentially the same thing. I do not find the Makeup Forever one to give a drastically better finish and the Revlon one is portable as well which is more convenient.

I hope you all enjoyed this review and comment down below on your thoughts about these two products!

Style - No heat waves tutorial!

Hi everybody! So this is my first time I'm doing a style video and it is going to be a no heat hair tutorial. This is a very easy tutorial that is great for summer if you just want to create some nice waves. I found that people with long hair find this hair style easier, but if you put hair spray or mousse to hold it in, it should be fine as well. I also have thin hair, so I didn't need to use much product because my hair easy conforms and stays to whatever I do.

Products you need -
- 2 hair elastics
- Brush
- Hair spray (optional)

Level of difficulty -
SUPER EASY

Tutorial -
1. This hair looks best and is easiest when your hair is around 50% wet after a shower. It can work for dry hair as well, but it takes longer.
2. Separate your hair into 2 sections. Put one section on the left, and one section on the right.
3. Take one section of the hair and just twist it until it is very tight.
4. Then start twisting the whole section so it becomes a mini side bun.
5. tie it with the elastic
6. Repeat for the other side.
7. If you are doing this with damp hair, you can actually put it in for around 30 minutes to an hour and you can just let your hair down. But if you're doing it with dry hair, you may want to do it overnight. Also, if you have damp hair and you want more defined curls, leave it in over night.
8. After you wait your preferred amount of time, let your hair down and just loosen your hair with your fingers.
9. If you need to, put some hair spray in to hold it in for longer.
10 VoilĂ ~ This look is finished.

This gives you very natural waves and what I think is best about this is, you can kind of control how defined your curls are. If you want more loose curls, just put them up for a shorter amount of time, and if you want more defined curls, put them in for longer.

I hope you enjoy this tutorial and comment below if you would like to see more of these style posts!

Mini Makeup Haul

Revlon Photoready Concealer - Shade 004, Light medium

Hi Everyone! I went shopping a few weeks ago and I've been meaning to do a mini haul, but I got so busy with school. But this week I had a 4 day weekend so it gave me a chance to catch up with blogging (: So I went shopping and I bought some products from Canmake, Maybeline and a new Revlon concealer. If you want to know my thoughts about these products

Canmake Cream Blush's  -
I was watching Ingrid(missglamorazzi) and in her Thailand haul she bought some Canmake products which I never heard of, but saw that in Hong Kong there was a huge section dedicated to this brand. So if you've seen my other posts I bought their powder duo-colour blushes before but I went back to see what else I could find and these blushes are amazing.
They have over 12 shades and are under $100HKD (13USD). I decided to buy a pink blush (shade 2) and a more coral, orangey colour. I must say, the packaging is quite nice, I like how it's in a transparent container because it just makes it easier to see the blushes, especially if you have several of them. For application I just like to use my fingers to apply it on the cheeks, you don't need too much and it glides on so easily, giving you a nice glow around your cheek area.

Shade 2

Canmake Slim Browpencil -
I don't usually like to touch my brows too much, mostly because I just like how they naturally look and I'm not too good with filling in my brows. But, I decided to buy this brow pencil because I need one to do my prom makeup anyway (*hint hint*). So far, this has been great. I like how thin it is because It helps me with forming the lines and it just gives me a lot more precision and control over where I draw my brows. Also, the colouration is perfect, it's the perfect colour for my brows. However, I don't think there is a huge variety of colours. Other than that, it's a nice slim product so it fits easily in your purse. One thing I do think could be better is that there is no cap. Although it twists all the way down, just for sanitary purposes I think a cap would've been great.
Shade 1

Maybeline - Hyper Curl Volum' Express (waterproof)
Recently, I got this new Maybeline mascara. I've actually had my eye on this for a while, but I was always like "no, I should finish my Boujois one first" but after 3 months, I decided to get it. This mascara gives a good amount of volume without looking clumpy at all. It separates your individual lashes into thin and long lashes and it just creates a very clean and long effect. this mascara has a rounded tip so it's quite easy to apply as well. Also, I've found with this mascara it's actually quite easy to apply it on your lower lashes. I usually suck at applying mascara on my lower lashes but with this mascara it's so easy to use.

Revlon Photoready Concealer -
I lost my L'oreal concealer recently so I was desperate to find a new one. I saw Bethany(macbarbie07) use this product so I went ahead and bought one for myself. It's a stick concealer, and I just like to either use a small concealer brush and apply it or if I'm out and reapplying just use my finger to get some product on. It's very creamy and it has great pigmentation. It doesn't dry out my skin at all and it's light enough to use on my under eye area as well. I think it's quite versatile for a concealer because I know many people use two different concealers, one for their dark circles and another for blemishes.

Shade 003 - Light Medium

Have a great day everyone! If you would like to me do a review on a certain product or want a certain blog post, put it in the comments below.

Urban Decay Baked Bronzer

Favorites - Cheek Products

Hi Everyone! It's slowly becoming spring, and this is the time when I usually start using more and more blush so I thought I would share my favorite cheek products. So, I've already done a review on some of my favorites (NARS Orgasm and Laguna) So if you want to see that click here. So, let's get on with the review for the rest of the products!

List of Products -
Cheek and Cheek blush (I don't remember what shade it was)
Urban Decay - Baked Bronzer for face and body
Bobbi Brown - Shimmer Brick in Pink Oyster
Tokidoki - Highlighter in Shade Kabuki
Maybeline - Blush in Shade Wooden Rose
Illamasqua - Blush in Shade Lover

Left to Right - Bobbi Brown, Illamasqua, Maybeline, Cheek and Cheek

Cheek and Cheek Blush -
This is the latest addition to my blush collection and I've been wearing it almost every single day, if I do wear a blush. It has a pink colour and a peachy colour as well. On the instruction it tells you to put the peach near your cheek bone and the pink right beneath your cheek bone but personally I like mixing the two together and using it as a regular blush. What's great about this blush is I can kind of mix it so there's a more pink tone or a more coral tone so it's a very versatile product. It has great pigmentation, you don't need a lot of it in order for the product to show and it generates a very nice glow to the skin. I was able to get this product in City Super - Log on in Time square, Causeway bay. I think there were around 3-4 shades so there isn't too much of a variety but I think all the shades are great for spring and summer.

Urbang Decay Baked Bronzer for face and body -
I've been using this product for around 2 years and it has great coloration, looks good on a lot of skin tones. It has a bit of shimmer to it but it just helps you get a nicer glow. Especially for people who have darker skin tones (one of my friends) though the bronzer itself doesn't show much, it helps her face look more glowy and bright. There is a lot of product in it so it lasts a long time and it's just great to give yourself a more subtle glow than a blush at times. I got this in the states so for people who live in Hong Kong, it might be a little difficult to find.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Shade Pink Oyster -
This shimmer brick is a fantastic product for those of you who love shimmer and glitter. I find shade a cross between a blush and a bronzer. There is a subtle brown colour mixed with the pink colour and I think that makes it a very flattering colour. However, though I love this product it can be a love-hate product. For people who love shimmer this is the product for you, but for those of you who prefer matte colours, stay away. I think one negative aspect on this product is that the shimmer can literally get to everywhere on your face so you have to be careful when you apply it. That being said, I like how they use a kind of colour blocking method so sometimes if you want a little more of a certain colour you can just apply more of that section onto the brush. My mom got this at the bobbi brown counter in Causeway bay, she personally thought it was too shimmery and so she gave it to me.

Tokidoki highlighter in shade Kabubi -
This is a highlighter colour I got when I was in the states. To be honest, I first got this product because I love Tokidoki. I have a Tokidoki makeup bag and a school bag as well. The packaging itself is adorable. It has the characters on the front, and I think that is what drew me to this product. It's a very subtle pink with shimmer in it. This product I think is better for lighter skin tones. I can personally use this all year around but that's only because I don't tan that much and I'm quite a light asian. So, this particular colour isn't too versatile but I think there are a couple other shades as well that might be better for others. Otherwise, this product is great. It comes out very nicely in pictures and it gives a nice glow to your cheeks. One thing you do have to be careful of is making sure you don't put too much, otherwise where you apply the highlight will be the only place that will be shown on your whole face.

Maybeline Blush in Shade Wooden Rose -
This is an average blush but I thought I would throw it in here because not only is it quite easy to get but it's a nice simple colour for those who are just starting makeup and want a non-expensive but still nice colour. This Maybeline blush has a variety of colours and I think most of them have shimmer in it. This colour I have, wooden rose, is a cool toned pink that can just give you a nice flush if you're going on an errand but still want to put on some makeup or just going out for a short while. Though the pigmentation isn't the greatest, you can build it up to a nice colour. I got this at Watsons, so any drugstore in Hong Kong with Maybeline will probably carry this blush.

Illamasqua powder blush in shade Lover -
If you told me to choose my number one favorite blush out of all the one's i've review I must say, it is this one. This is a beautiful bright coral that compliments my skin tone very well. It has great pigmentation and I'm just, in love with the colour. The only thing you need to be careful of is putting too much on. If you do, there is a possibility you will look like a clown. Other than that, it's just this beautiful coral colour, a lot closer to the orange side that looks really good with the spring and summer weather. I got this in the states at Sephora as well, so again... hard to find in hk ):
